Dr Tobias Brucksch-Domanski is a registrar in specialist training with the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians. Tobias has a general interest in sport and exercise medicine. He is skilled in seeing all patients including elite athletes, people with niche interests and those who are simply trying to increase their activity levels.
Common problems managed by Tobias include; stress fractures (especially in the spine), tendon injuries, osteoarthritis, all acute injuries and medical problems related to sport.
Tobias studied undergraduate medicine at Monash University in Victoria and worked in Melbourne gaining experience in Emergency medicine, orthopaedics, general practice clinics and sports & events coverage. This includes medical coverage for the Northern Knights Football Club (TAC Cup), Racing Victoria (horse-racing), Motocross Victoria, and, volunteering for Team Medical Australia at motor racing events.
He currently holds the position as team doctor for the Eastern Suburbs Rugby Union Club in the Premier Rugby competition. Other previous Queensland posts include; team doctor with the Wynnum-Manly Seagulls Rugby League Club and team doctor with the Queensland Firebirds Netball Team. Tobias is also experienced in sideline coverage of elite soccer.
With a multi-disciplinary team, Tobias is researching the use of bracing of the spine in the treatment of adolescent spinal stress fractures. Tobias’ own activity interests include learning to surf and rock-climb, Parkrun, yoga, American Football, soccer, swimming and cycling. He is always keen to gain new skills in other sports.
Tobias has a unique big-picture perspective on medical management; the aim is to use directional strategies and medical tools to achieve short- or long-term goals for the active individual.
