First off our apologies for missing the August blog! It was a very busy and exciting time with Dr Hislop off to the London 2012 Olympic Games in his capacity as the team physician for Sprint Canoe. He felt extremely proud of the whole team, but special congratulations of course go to the Gold Medal winning men’s K4 1000m squad of Jacob Clear, David Smith, Tate Smith and Murray Stewart! Dr Hislop tells us that the experience was absolutely amazing, and that the whole GB Olympic movement put on a great show.
Well it is back to work now, and we at BSEMS appreciate your patience as some of our staff have been away. Things should settle soon, and we aim to have you seen as quick as we can by our excellent multi-disciplinary team. Over the August period we were pleased to introduce Dr Michael McLean, our new senior Sports Medicine Registrar who brings a wealth of experience to the BSEMS rooms. In addition we are lucky to have Dr Tim McMeniman now consulting out of BSEMS once a week. This is great for our patients, as it allows rapid access to a skilled Orthopaedic Surgeon, conveniently out of our Hawthorne rooms.
Allira Rogers, our Sports Psychologist has extended her hours to now consult an extra half day per week, as has Lauren Tomasel, our Hand Therapist. Lauren Nugent, our Sports Dietitian has also increased her BSEMS consulting hours. All in all we are now even more available to cover all of your Sports Medicine needs, and to try to help you to be the best you can be!
Please feel free to check on all of our excellent Practitioners through the BSEMS website, each a specialist in their field. Our friendly staff are always available to help with any questions or concerns you may have.
All the best and happy exercising into the warmer Spring months!
